Online GW talk @ Canberra Secondary (Apr)

As part of the Earth Day event, Mrs Lim Suet Peng (HOD CCE/ VIA) from Canberra Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct 2 online Global Warming talks for the school cohort on 23 Apr. Mrs Lim also invited a speaker from Singapore Botanic Gardens to conduct a Heritage Talk for the students during the online Assembly event.

On 23 Apr, Earth Society joined in the online Zoom meeting at 7.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming talk for Sec 1 and 2 students from 8 am to 8.30 am. We conducted another Global Warming talk for Sec 3 and 4 students from 9 am to 9.30 am  We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk.

After our talk, Ms Soon from Botanic Gardens presented on the history of Botanic gardens. She introduced the Swan lake and various attractions in Botanic gardens to the students. Ms Soon also featured NParks’ “Heritage Tree Scheme” in her talk. This scheme allows a person to nominate a Heritage Tree to conserve Singapore’s mature trees.
