Climate Conversations @ A Good Space (Feb)

Climate Conversations Team invited Earth Society members to attend a Conversation on Climate Change on 26 Feb. The Conversation was held @ A Good Space (NVPC, Clark Quay Central).

Our members get to know of the Climate Conversations Team from their Booth at EarthFest in Jan 2019. The CC Team had conducted 60 climate conversations, reaching out to hundreds of people to discuss on Climate change and the role we can play to reduce climate change.

On 26 Feb, Mr Low attended the Climate Conversation from 7 pm to 9.30 pm. About 30 persons attended the Conversation. We broke into 3 groups of 10. Each group was guided by a facilitator to discuss on Climate change.

Ms Ang was the facilitator in the group that Mr Low joined. Ms Ang showed the group an introduction video on Climate change The 12 mins video showed us how climate change is affecting the world (e.g. more droughts, stronger storms, Arctic ice melts etc). We discussed about the effects of climate change and what we can do to reduce climate change. Some solutions discussed in the group included changing to green energy (solar etc), reduce driving, eating less meat.

Ms Ang informed that if we can get 16% of the Singapore population to discuss on Climate change, it will gradually grow to a nation-wide movement to increase awareness on the topic and encourage people to take actions to curb climate change.

The discussion ended with Ms Ang showing us a 10 mins video on the solutions to reduce climate change.
